Replacing the World Peace/Race Unity Message with a Message emphasizing the Person, Name, and Station of Baha'u'llah

7. The Spirit of Truth Message

Problem: The Standard Message is the "message" used by the Friends in North America (and elsewhere) to "prospect". To prospect means to "dig for". Like prospecting for gold. The Standard Message is this:

World Peace/Race Unity/Equality/Esperanto-for-All

The Standard Message worked quite well for the Faith for many decades; when there was no equality, no race unity, and no peace. It worked quite well after the Great War, after World War II, and during and after Vietnam. It worked quite well during Segregation and just after the Civil Rights years; when tens of millions of Americans saw the injustices going on in the South and elsewhere. It worked quite well when women could not vote, or were denied many jobs that only men could hold.

It had its day, and those days are over.

That is why it just isn't "working" today like it used to. Sure, it works a "little bit" but very little. It attracts too many radicals; people who are "too radical" for the Faith. The Faith is too conservative for radicals, and too liberal for conservatives.

Many of the Friends think that the Standard Message "is" the Bahá'í Message! Some think is it the Bahá'í Faith!

The problem is, the Standard Message no longer "works" like it used to. For every thousand dollars in advertising using the Standard Message, one convert is made. That's not cost-effective! What Message can be used to change this downward spiral?

Solution: Use "The Spirit of Truth Message". This is actually the "Message" used by Bahá'u'lláh in His tablets to Christians. It is very simple, and direct. This is it:

A Message from the Bahá'ís...

Christ said:

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of Truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify Me..." (John 16:13-14)

Bahá'u'lláh wrote:

"Verily, He Who is the Spirit of Truth is now come to guide you unto all truth. He speaketh not as prompted by His own Self, but as bidden by Him Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Say, this is the One Who hath glorified the Son and hath exalted His Cause." (Tablets of Bahá'u'lláh, p. 12)

Place advertisements in university newspapers, and in New Age magazines with this exact wording.

The reason you put these advertisements in university newspapers is because you wish to attract young people who:

1) Are old enough to make their own decisions.

and...

2) Are not too old in that they are set in their ways.

University students are the "best" place to find Seekers! They are thinking for themselves, inquisitive, in search of meaning, but not too old or set in their ways in a career and "routine". They will become (in a few short years) "People of Means"; the very people needed to support the Faith worldwide and in the Third-World where Believers cannot even support themselves much less promulgate the Faith.

That is all you need to do! It will work, and work extremely well. Notice that includes the "Standard Message" as well! Notice the phrase "The Journey Through the Worlds of God". This is a "catch phrase" that will attract Mystical Seekers; those interested in the mystical.

What does "The Journal through the Worlds of God" mean? It means that there are five Worlds of God: Hehút (realm of the Essence), Lahút (realm of Divinities), Jabarút (realm of the Immortals), Malakút (angelic realm), and Nasút (the physical realm). A human soul is supposed to travel from Nasút to Malakút to Jabarút to Lahút: which is the "Furthermost Tree" (Sidrat al-Muntaha) or final destination of the soul, the Eternal Paradise. All the Central Figures speak of these Worlds. If you are unfamiliar with these Worlds, I will speak of them later in this article.

Bsically, there are two types of people who would be interested in the Faith:

Type A: Social-Activists. Those who would join the Peace Corps or the Civil Rights Movement. They are not really concerned with the Afterlife, but want to transform society here and now. Just about all western Bahá'ís are of this type.

Thype B: Mystical-Seekers. Those who are attracted to the mystical aspects of the Faith.

The Standard Message attracted only Type A. The Spirit of Truth Message will attract Types A and B both.

The only thing that will prevent you from doing this is the ego (the "satan" within all of us) which will speak to you and say, "Who is this man? HOW DARE HE try to tell us what to do!" That is the ego, and the ego is Satan.

Use The Spirit of Truth Message. Try it, and see it work, and watch it work marvelously well.

Try this experiment. Place "The Spirit of Truth Message" in a daily newspaper in the Chicago area. See what happens.
